This article is an essential read for any Agile coach or Scrum practitioner. It demystifies one of the most misinterpreted tools in Agile planning — Story Points.

The insights on relative estimation and how team dynamics affect velocity are particularly valuable. I especially appreciate the emphasis on avoiding false precision and maintaining healthy estimation discussions within teams. Whether you're mentoring a junior team or recalibrating a seasoned one, this guide provides practical reminders and a structured mindset to bring back clarity and agility in your estimation process.

In my coaching practice, I encounter similar situations. Great article and see you next time.

I'm gonna share this in our team retro tomorrow 🙂 nice and succinct explanation of quite a few things I've been pondering of late around this sort of thing.

Just when I thought I understood this activity, I discover I haven't read enough. This definition 'Story Points are about effort. Complexity, uncertainty, and risk are factors that influence effort, but each alone is not enough to determine effort.' is super helpful. I really have always understood this as complexity alone but encouraged the team to compare to previous tasks. And this definition really informs how to handle bugs. Thank you Marteen!
